Watch it!

Obviously, my Greymatter is developping a live of it's own. The archived posts from six months before the most recent post are not showing, but will be back up as soon as the next month comes and I make a post.

No new entries lately? I might have posted something in my livejournal. Go check!

What's New?

Frankfurt (Oder), Tuesday, May 09, 2006. 02.24 (gmt+1). I sent an email to my prof today. Told him that I'm not doing the presentation. Most likely, anyway. Just so he can plan the lesson and I don't have that sort of stress anymore. I woke up sick today. My throat is swollen, everytime I swallow it hurts. I have a fever, too, I think. I'd swap for Saturday's pain in the neck in an instant. Play of words, ha. What else? I'm a loser. I can't even get a simple presentation ready on time. I'll get in trouble with my study support if I don't finish a certain number of courses this semester. I'm a couple ones short, anyway. I can't really afford not finishing this one, actually... But then, I hope I can get credits for the languages. We'll see. Plus, I've decided that I'm not going to finish university at all. Just stay here until I know what I'm going to do instead. I have my mind set on train driver, currently, but I think the application process isn't too easy. Well, at least they won't let just anyone in. Updated. In fact, yes! There's photos of my latest and very ambitioned sewing project... One photo to be exact. Also, I saw something funny at the Potsdam main station which I thought was reason enough to open up a new section under the light bulb: Funny Finds. Enjoy!

Frankfurt (Oder), Sunday, May 07, 2006. 05.39 (gmt+1). Das Leben ist komplett sinnfrei und wir leben nur aus Spaß. That's my new motto. In case anyone cared. So. I was going to write about how I went to another Zoo Army concert on Friday night, but I haven't even mentioned the first one on March 16. I took pictures on both of them and put them on this website, under photos. I'm actually not supposed to be hanging around the net. I have a presentation due next Wednesday about the Thirty Years War and I only just started reading up on the topic. All I know, actually, is that it started 1618 and ended 1648... I have to give an overview of all that happened. Talk for about twenty minutes. All I could tell the class is fragments. I'm so doomed. I need to find some other source than this 800-pages book... There's no way I'll read through that until Tuesday night AND have time to write the presentation. Anyway, the concert on Friday was awesome! It was a festival of sorts. Grand opening of a club. Other bands that played were Pump, Chalice and Shy. I saw the first two, but only stayed for a few songs with Shy. They were all great, but I was there for Zoo Army after all. Plus, I had to get back to my aunt's place because my cousin was waiting. She had decided she'd not give me her key, but stay awake until I got back. So, all the bands played cool rock music and i was banging my head like a crazywoman. I couldn't move my neck the next day and still can't. I need a massage badly. Updated. Photos, as mentioned above. Also a new Zoo Army themed wallpaper under the light bulb. Enjoy!

Frankfurt (Oder), Thursday, March 09, 2006. 19.15 (gmt+1). The phone company is sending someone tomorrow to fix my internet so hopefully it'll work then. Finally. Updated. Something old and something new in the art section. If you check the light bulb you'll also find some wallpapers I've kindly posted so you can use them, hehe. Enjoy.

Frankfurt (Oder), Wednesday, March 08, 2006. 19.25 (gmt+1). Why has no one ever told me that I look like Miss Piggy without my glasses? Eek! Updated. Yay! Finally! I added some very recent pictures of myself - taken yesterday and the day before - to the photo section. Go see for yourself!

Frankfurt (Oder), Tuesday, March 07, 2006. 14.30 (gmt+1). Oh my, oh my... Don't ever let me have the feeling that I have money to spare... I came by the photo store yesterday and thought I'd get some info on digital cameras. So the clerk shows me one, I'm surprised it costs only 129 Euros and - tada! - I buy it right on the spot, complete with a bigger memory card and a charger for accus. And all for € 165. I probably could've gotten the same camera a lot cheaper at another place, but oh well. I've got a new toy! I've made some really cool pictures already. Maybe I'll show them off once I get my internet fixed, because they're too big for a floppy disk.
Then, today, I had an appointment to try out contact lenses. I'm actually wearing them now, because they told me to just keep them and come back by the end of the month. Wow. I totally didn't expect that. Anyway, they feel weird. And when I look down it seems like I'm three feet taller than before. Crazy. Also, I found out that I must be allergic to the kind of cleaning liquid they used for practise (you know, putting them in, taking them out), it felt like soap in my eyes.
Anyway. This is all so exciting! (Hahaha) And I have to check my finances badly, because I'm planning on buying a laptop for my semester in Sweden. I'm leaving in August. Maybe I shouldn't wait too long anymore so I'll have the chance to save some money for the first couple of weeks in Sweden. I sent in my application for student support a little late and might not get any during the first month... Updated. No. But soon! Maybe...

Wolmirstedt, Sunday, March 05, 2006. 15.41 (gmt+1). What a week! Monday night I fetched my phone, modem, cables etc. from my old flat because the house is being fixed up from the basement to the roof and everyone had to move out. I could lay my hands on our old kitchen table as well, but couldn't carry it all accross town that night. I came back Tuesday morning at seven to get it, because that day sometime between eight in the morning and four in the afternoon I had an appointment with the guy from the phone company to switch on my phone. He even showed up half past nine, fumbled with the phone socket in my flat and then said he needed to go to the basement. Alright, we go to the basement. He looks around, doesn't seem to find what he's looking for, calls the owner of the house who left his number on a locked door in the basement. Turns out there is a box with phone... stuff in there to which the phone guy needed access. The owner of the house tells me that we can't get the key to the room, because some other company's got it. Great! (I'm seriously wondering whether they lied to me, because there's no way there's only one key to that room and no reserve.) Now I'm waiting for the phone company to give me a new appointment, I have to try reach the house owner so he unlocks the room in the basement and make sure I'm home all day from eight am to four pm. I positively hate my phone company! They better not charge me for the time that I can't use my phone, because it's their fault. They could've told me that they needed access to the basement! It's not exactly general knowledge.
Then, on Thursday night my bed broke. My old bed that I'd had since I was little. It used to be a bunk bed, actually. Twenty years old. I was going to sit down on it, and was still half standing when it crashed to the floor. Turns out it was glued together. I had to vacuum away all the splinters in the middle of the night. The next day we bought a new bed, but didn't put it up until an hour ago. When putting the heavy mattress back in we hit a glass lamp and broke that, too. Seriously, I just want to get out of this place and have internet in Frankfurt so I really only have to come here to use mom's washing mashine. Updated. Ha. No.

Frankfurt/Oder, Tuesday, February 07, 2006. 14.37 (gmt+1). You won't believe the weather here! All winter it's been snowing like crazy, then it melted a little, froze over and that's basically what's it been for the last seven or eight weeks. So there's been huge mountains of dirty old snow piling up in the streets and it's basically so slippery that it takes you twice as long to get to places. But at least it's been dry. Last night there was some sort of snowy rain, lots of it, which turned into just rain in the morning. The ice and snow on the streets is melting turning the pavement and streets into rivers. The water is ankle hight in many places and my feet are drenched in water, they're sogging wet! When I left the house this morning it was like stepping into a lake. There was absolutely NO dry spot to set your foot! Well, the reason why I'm so bummed is not just the fact that this town more or less resembles a swimming pool, but especially the non-existing rubber boots in my small collection of shoes. I will have wet feet for the next couple of days if it stays like that. And it will unless it freezes again. The ground is still frozen and all that water has no chance to sink or get anyplace except stay where it is. I doubt that the sun in case it decides to come out eventually will be able to do much for the better. And the worst thing is that now you can't even tell anymore where the snow-and-ice-layer is frozen and relatively safe to step on and where it's melted and will make your foot sink five or more inches into the wet and freezing goo. I positively hate winter. Updated. *shakes head*
